Waking up late every day. Going to bed late. It’s warm.
Monday evening: Met Á and first we went for a beer at one of the romkocsma pubs close to my hostel and then we went to the statue of Zero, the Kilometer Stone, from where all roads in Hungary leading to Budapest are measured. Then we walked up to the Budapest Liberty Statue on the Gellért HegyHill. The view from there in the evening is amazing. Topped of the evening with meeting up a Britt I met on the train on my way to Budapest for a couple of beers and we say two more of the nice pubs in the city centre.
Tuesday: Walked around in the city just looking at people and buildings. Walked to the parliament and then met Á and we went for food at a small thai restaurant. Went into a newly build deparment stor with a beautiful café deparment and in the top of the building there was a gallery where they had designed furniture. After that we went to the fancy New Work Palace for a coffee and I had my first Melange. Coffee, milk and honey in layers topped off with cinnamon. This might be my thing in Budapest, Melange. Donno if it just I who have missed out on this before I went to Budapest or if it’s a typical thing or a trend here. We went for beer again at another nice place in the centre of Budapest. Then I met up with the Britt and who of his friends at a roof top bar and club.
Wednesday: My goal was the Caste. Walked across the Margrit bridge from Pest to Buda and saw the small streets of Buda with its cafés and small nice stores (which in one I found Swedish brands) on my way up the hill to Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion. Sat in the shadow looking at people and the view. Listened to the fiddlers and fond the Museum for the Hospital in the Rock, but didn’t have time to go with the one hour tour while I was going to meet Á to go to the Széchenyi thermal Bath. A Spa close to the Hero Square (Hősök tere). Went to the caste, lay on a bench in the sun and looked at people. Went to the hostel and fell asleep after the exhaustion of the sun which I have realized I am not use to at all. My body is really struggling. Had a small sunstroke.
Thank you my love F in Malmö. You gave me a package of effervescent tablets for rehydration before I left to Berlin. It saved me.
Off to the spa and enjoying the different springs and sunas. Then back to the hostel.

Right now I am at a café next to the synagogue, the largest synagogue in Europe and the fifth largest in the world. Have just had a perfect breakfast. Planning to see the inside of the Great Synagogue today (Tabakgasse Synagogue) and we’ll see if I will have the time and strength to do anything else before meeting Á and going to Margrit Island and it’s fountain in the evening light.
